The Orange Poetry Film Festival 2024

We are thrilled to invite you to the Orange Poetry Film Festival 2024! This year, we gather under the powerful theme “Reframing the Canvas: Telling Stories Through the African Lens” to honor the voices, heritage, and unique stories that African storytellers bring to life. The festival will explore how poetry and film intersect to reveal the richness of African narratives, illuminate social issues, and connect us all through shared experiences and aspirations.

Join us on November 29th, 2024, at the beautifully curated Roving Heights Bookstore in Abuja, where we will showcase an inspiring lineup of poetry film screenings, live spoken word performances, and insightful discussions. The event will feature celebrated artists and experts who will guide us in examining the transformative role of storytelling through poetry and film.

What to Expect:

  • International Poetry Film Screenings: An exclusive selection of powerful poetry films that delve into themes of identity, resilience, and the African experience, bringing voices from around the world to the heart of Abuja.
  • Film Screening of One Chance (A Poetry Short Film) at the Abuja International Poetry Festival (November 14th): As a special part of our festival programming, join us at the AIP Festival for an exclusive screening of One Chance, a powerful film that captures the raw essence of chance encounters and unexpected journeys, produced by the Nasara Creatives through an African storytelling lens.
  • Captivating Performances: Spoken word performances and a musical act will set the stage, drawing us into the art of storytelling with rhythm and soul.
  • Thought-Provoking Panel Discussion: Our “Focal Point: Perspectives of Storytelling” panel will explore how African storytelling traditions evolve in the modern world and how they connect with global themes, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Join our distinguished panelists as they discuss how poetry film serves as both a cultural preservation tool and a catalyst for social change.
  • Networking & Community Building: Connect with creatives, filmmakers, poets, and fellow enthusiasts from across the region who are equally passionate about the transformative power of storytelling.
